Sherman “Ray” Ross, age 78, of Bristol, Tenn., went to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 6, 2019 at Ballad Health Hospice House. He was born October 29, 1940 in Buchanan Va., a son of the late Johnny and Thelma Castle Ross. Ray was a former building superintendent for Food City/K-VA-T. He was a member of Lee Street Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his adoptive father and mother, Lloyd and Grace Ross; grandson, Sean Douglas Ray Osborne; and six sisters.

He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Joyce A. Ross; daughters, Sandra Browning and husband Richard, Sherry Stanley and husband Brandon; sons, Johnny Ray Ross, Terry Ross and wife Melinda; sister, Maxine Morita of Santa Rosa, CA; four grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and god granddaughter, Makalia Payne.

The funeral service will be held 12 p.m. Wednesday, January 9, 2019 in the Weaver Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. W.A. Johnson officiating. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until 11:45 a.m. prior to the service. The committal service will be held 3:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Clinch Valley Memorial Cemetery Mausoleum in Richlands, Va.
