Sammy Buchanan Settle, Sr., age 75, of Bristol, Tenn., passed away on Friday, September 14, 2018 at his residence.

 

He was born July 10, 1943 in Bristol, Tenn., a son of the late Charles and Frances Jones Settle. Sammy was a lifelong resident of the Bristol area. He was a machinist for Stone Container. Sammy was a Master Mason and a member of Zollicoffer Masonic Lodge #444. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Jack Settle, Howard Settle, Bill Settle, and Wayne Settle.

 

He is survived by his wife, Susan L. Webb Settle; daughter, Suzanne McCormack; sons, Sammy B. Settle, Jr. and wife Dawn, and Scott Settle and wife Michelle; grandchildren, Matthew Settle, Jamie Settle, Courtney Settle, Trevor Settle, Nate Payne, Gavin Payne, and Nick McCormack; four great grandchildren; sisters, Sue Morrell, Virginia Oliver, JoAnn Leonard, Carol LaRose, and Debbie Keller; and several nieces and nephews.

 

A masonic service for Mr. Settle will be held 4 p.m. Sunday, September 16, 2018 by Zollicoffer #444 F&AM. The family will receive friends from 2 until 4 p.m. prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105.
