Ronald Dale Moore, age 69, of Bristol, Va., went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 3, 2018 at Bristol Regional Medical Center.
Ron was diagnosed with lung cancer in June of 2017, suffered a stroke in early November, and had numerous other illnesses. He was born in Perryville, MD on January 26, 1948 to Howard Eugene and Mary Ellen Broady Moore. He will be greatly missed by all his family and friends.
Ron enjoyed fishing, playing croquet, going to family picnics, visiting out of town family, and going with his “buddies” at RPM Offroad to the Baja Truck races in Mexico. Most of all, he enjoyed just being at home with his family.
He was Director of the Haven of Rest Rescue Mission in Bristol, TN from 1983-1990. He became the Assistant Director of the Haven of Rest Ministries in Anderson, SC from 1990-1993. He was an OTR truck driver for about 3 years before retiring. He was a member of Liberty Baptist Church, Bristol, TN. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Roger; and baby brother, Rossie Moore.
He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Carol Elizabeth Whorton Moore; his daughter, Whitney Elizabeth Moore; and brother, Gene Moore and wife Rosie of Winston-Salem, NC.
The funeral service will be held 3 p.m. Sunday, January 7, 2018 at Liberty Baptist Church, 112 Walnut Hill Rd, Bristol, TN, with Dr. Stan Anderson officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:30 until 3 p.m. prior to the service. The interment will follow the service at Mountain View Cemetery. Pallbearers will be nephews, Greg Harris, Jonathan and Jason White, Mark Lunsford; Daniel Gross and Michael Penny. In lieu of flowers, the family would greatly appreciate any donations to the funeral home to help with expenses.
