Mike Carty, age 88, of Blountville, Tenn., went to be with the Lord on Friday, July 16, 2021 at his residence.

Mike was born January 12, 1933 in Abingdon, Va., a son of the late Guy E. and Clara L. Elrod Carty. He was a lifelong resident of the Bristol area and was a U.S. Army Veteran. Mike retired from the Bristol TN City School System where he taught for many years at Tennessee High School. Mr. Carty also worked at Weaver Funeral Home for 22 years following his retirement.  He was a member of Cold Spring Presbyterian Church where he served as elder and trustee and was a member of King Masonic Lodge.  Mike both played and loved bluegrass music.  

Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Bobbie Jo Rouse Carty; sons, Timothy Mike Carty and Daniel Matthew Carty; siblings, Ann Nickles, and Jim Carty and wife Georgia; seven grandchildren and several great grandchildren.

The funeral service will be held Sunday at 5:00 p.m. in the Weaver Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Doug LaPointe officiating. The family will receive friends from 3 until 4:45 pm prior to the service. The committal service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday at Cold Spring Cemetery.  Elders and Deacons of Cold Spring Presbyterian Church will be honorary pallbearers.  In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Cold Spring Presbyterian Church, 280 Cold Spring Church Rd, Bristol, TN 37620.  To view the service LIVE, please click here.
