“When they ring those golden bells…”

On March 4th Martha Bowery Watson, age 90, heard those bells and is now walking unhindered on the streets of gold and admiring the gates of pearl.

She is rejoicing with those who have gone before: her husband, Rev. Haynes Watson; mother, Ora Brown; daughter, Betsy Worley; sisters, Elinor Gray and brother; Johnny Bowery.

Left to remember her are her children, Bill Watson (Beverly), Cathie Feathers, Pamela Watson, Alan Watson (Lynne), and Scott Watson (Gloria); grandsons, Adam Watson, Trey Watson, Joshua Feathers, Andrew Watson, Blake Watson, and Jacob Watson; granddaughters, Carrie Ollard and Abigail Marcelle.  She also leaves behind eight great grandchildren, while scattered, were always a source of joy when they came to visit.

She supported her husband for many years at Faith Bible Camp, and was known for her cooking. Making biscuits and gravy for 40-50 was no easy task, but there was always plenty and seldom any leftovers!  She was able to talk to anyone, and always had a smile on her face.

The family wishes to thank all the nurses, CNA’s, doctors, therapists and support staff at NHC and Caris hospice, and to Dr. McClinitc, the wound care staff, floor nurses, therapist, and PCT’s that cared for her over the last few years whenever she was in the hospital.

We would also like to thank her longtime caregiver, Mattie Whorton, for her years of tireless help and assistance, and the others that stepped in to help when needed.
