Jerry Lee Hartley, age 71, of Bristol, Tenn., went to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 21, 2018 at Bristol Regional Medical Center.
He was born February 11, 1946 in Bluff City, Tenn., a son of the late David Hamilton “Ham” and Amanda Guinn Hartley. Jerry was a lifelong resident of the Bristol area and was a Veteran of the U.S. Army. He retired from Morrell Dotson-Nissan. Jerry attended Cornerstone Freewill Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Barbara Boling; brothers, Brice, Raymond, Dewey and Dalton Hartley.
He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Phyllis Rogers Hartley; son, Charles Lee Hartley and Kristen Trivette; daughter, Melinda Turnmire and husband Eric; sisters, Cassie “Bunny” Hicks and Wilma West; brothers, Carl Hartley and wife Dorothy, and Duane Hartley; sister-in-law, June Hartley; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held 2:30 p.m. Thursday, January 25, 2018 at Cornerstone Freewill Baptist Church with Pastor Gary Rowlette officiating. The interment will follow at Glenwood Cemetery with military honors conducted by the Bristol VFW Honor Guard. Pallbearers will be Buster Rogers, Donnie Michales, Kevin Leonard, Brian Rogers, Matt Smith and Keith Pittman. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 24, 2018 from 6 until 8 p.m. at Weaver Funeral Home.
