Guy “Mike” William Leonard, age 69, of Blountville, Tenn., passed away on Friday, October 25, 2019 at Bristol Regional Medical Center. Mike was born on December 29, 1949 in Bristol, VA, a son of the late Herschel and Nellie Leonard. Mike lived all of his life in Sullivan County and was previously employed at Ball Brothers and Sandvik.  Many who knew Mike knew his sense of humor and his love and care for others, especially his daughter, grandchildren, and his family. He attended Faith Baptist Church.  In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Jo Leonard; brothers, Larry “Bimbo” Leonard, Robert “Bo” Leonard, and Wayne Leonard.

Survivors include his daughter, Kelly Rupe and husband Dale, Jr.; stepsons, Teddy Sams and Tony Leonard; grandchildren, Kayla and Troy Rupe, Andrew and Skylar Leonard; several great grandchildren; brothers, Glenn “Smokey” Leonard, Raymond “John” Leonard and wife Dorothy; sisters, Faye Adams and husband Page, Bernice Sutherland, Linda Whiteman, Phyllis “Susie” Leonard; several nieces, nephews, and many friends.

The family would like to express a special thank you to Kyla, Lee, Robin, and Christa of Advance Home Health, Dr. Cline, Dr. Marshall, and Dr. Wayne, and all the nurses that took care of Mike at Bristol Regional Medical Center; especially the nurses at 2 East. The family wishes to express a special thanks to the staff at NHC Kingsport. 

The funeral service for “Mike” will be held at 7 p.m. on Monday, October 28, 2019 at Faith Baptist Church, 3819 Island Road, Blountville, TN 37617 with Pastor Eddie Zimmerman and Pastor Tommy Griffin officiating.  The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. until 6:45 p.m. prior to the service. The committal service and interment will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, October 29, 2019 at Johnson Cemetery.  Pallbearers will be Michael Whiteman, Tony Leonard, Adam Walden, Skylar Leonard, Andrew Leonard, Devin McCracken. Honorary pallbearers are Page Adams, Joe Leonard, Ronnie Leonard, Jimmy Jones, Ernie Cassell, Bill Yates, Kevin Whiteman, Steve Self, Teddy Sams, Tony Leonard, Andrew Walden, and Charles Lundy and the friends who called and visited.
