Gene Webster Grindstaff, age 92, of Bristol, TN passed away on Friday, November 19, 2021 in Viviant Healthcare of Bristol. He was born July 2, 1929 in Rolfe, West Virginia, a son of the late Charles McKinley and Hattie Maybell Hall Grindstaff, and has lived in the Bristol area since 1972. He was a teacher, and was a member of Cold Spring Presbyterian. For over 20 years, he ran the DE Program at John S. Battle. Mr. Grindstaff had a love for the outdoors, boating, camping, and fishing.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Clemon Grindstaff and James Vincent “Benny” Grindstaff; and sister, Louise Grindstaff. Surviving include his wife, Ellen Marie Weaver Grindstaff; daughter, Melissa Davis; grandson, Ryan Davis; nephews, Phil Grindstaff, Todd Grindstaff (Cathy), Mark Grindstaff (Patricia), Richard Grindstaff (JoAnn), David Grindstaff, and Frank Grindstaff; nieces, Mary Grindstaff and Susan Grindstaff (Bobby); and special friend, Ralph Booher.
The funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm, Sunday, December 5, 2021 in the Weaver Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Doug LaPointe officiating. The burial will follow in Cold Spring Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm prior to the service at the funeral home on Sunday.
