Gale A. Thacker, age 82, of Bluff City, Tenn., went to be with the Lord on Thursday, December 24, 2020 at the Christian Care Center of Bristol. He was born May 13, 1938 in Hawkins County, Tenn. and was a lifelong resident of the Hickory Tree Community. Gale retired from the U.S. Marine Corps. and then served with the Sullivan County Sheriff’s Dept. where he retired after 22 years as court bailiff. He was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church and the Zollicoffer Masonic Lodge #444. Gale loved fishing, hunting and spending time outdoors.

He was preceded in death by his father, Ephraim Thacker; mother, Zelma Davis Ashburn; step father, Milton Ashburn; sons, Timothy Thacker and Tracy Thacker; and great grandchildren, Malyn and Carson Thacker, and Malyn Lewis.

Survivors include his wife, Jean Shervon Thacker; children, Joey N. Thacker, Julie S. Francisco; sister, Ruth Hurd; brothers, Bill Thacker and wife Georgia, Wayne Ashburn, and Richard Ashburn; several grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held at a later date in the Mountain Home National Cemetery.
