Eula Virginia Fleenor Odum passed away on Friday, January 11, 2019 at the Christian Care Center in Bristol, TN, where she spent the last few months of her long life.

Mrs. Odum was born in Washington County, VA on July 25, 1920, to Minnie Roberts Fleenor and John Virgil Fleenor.

She was preceded in death by sisters Margaret Lois Fleenor and Audrey Lee Blalock.

Eula was married on September 4, 1940 to Donald Edward Odum, who died April 28, 1996. They were married for 54 years.

After growing up in the Benhams community of Washington County, Virginia, Mrs. Odum made her home in Bristol her entire adult life. Beginning in 1948, she served as secretary in the Bristol office of the Division of War Veterans Claims for the Commonwealth of Virginia for 32 years, retiring in 1980. After retirement, she and her husband opened and operated “Eula’s Florist” for several years.

She was a member of Belle Meadows Baptist Church in Bristol, VA for over sixty years.

Mrs. Odum is survived by her niece Doris Jean Blalock, niece Mary Jo Shanks (husband, William R. Shanks), grandnephew David Shanks, grandniece Jennifer Adams (husband Dwayne), great-grandnieces Emerson and Sydney Adams. Through her husband, she is survived by niece Donna Haire (husband Dennis), nephew Rex Tester (wife Brandy), niece Sara Beth Henderson (husband Dickie), niece Ann Davis (husband Scott), nephew Steve Morton, niece Linda Bishop, niece Kristie Newton (husband Kenny), niece Judy Lawson, nephew David Worley (wife Heather), niece Brenda Wood (husband Carter), nephew Hunter Odum (wife Tina), and many great nephews and nieces. Mrs. Odum is also survived by her longtime special friend, Mary Ellen Mitchell.

The funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Monday, January 14, 2019 in the Weaver Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dewey Williams officiating. The family will receive friends from 12 until 1:45 p.m. prior to the service. The interment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers will be all nephews, great nephews, and friends of Mrs. Odum.
