Eugene Mullins, age 83, of Bristol, Tenn., went to be with the Lord unexpectedly on Friday, May 17, 2019. He was a man of faith that loved The Lord and was a beacon of light in the lives of many people who crossed his path. He was born in Hi Hat, KY on December 20, 1935 eldest son of the late Tillman and Nancy “Nanny” Brown Mullins. As a Kentucky native, he loved UK Basketball and the Big Blue Nation. For many years he enjoyed golfing and bowling, but more than anything he enjoyed time with family and friends. He was a member of Cross Park Church since 1973.
Eugene served in the United States Air Force serving 2 years in Japan. After 40 years as a Level A Tester at Raytheon, he retired in 1998. He and his beloved wife have enjoyed many trips and good times with 2 very special sisters-in-laws, Katie Blevins and Juanita Hicks during their retirement.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Thern Mullins and one sister, Gloria “Spicey” Adkins.
He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Evelene Mullins; beloved son, Paul Mullins and special daughter-in-law, Alesia; grandson, Brandon Mullins and wife Hailey; granddaughter, Chelsea Cross and husband Jessee; four blessed great grandchildren, Jensen Cross, Evelyn Mullins, Henley Cross and Isaac Mullins; sister, Pal Gangewere; several nieces and nephews; and many close friends.
Funeral services will be held 6 p.m. Tuesday, May 21, 2019 in the Weaver Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Tony Thompson officiating. The family will receive friends from 5 until 6 p.m. prior to the service. The committal service will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 22, 2019 at Forest Hills Memory Gardens with military honors conducted by the Bristol VFW Honor Guard. Pallbearers will be Brandon Mullins, Mark Adkins, Allen Adkins, Randy Blevins, Timmy Gangewere and Billy Gangewere.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Cross Park Church, 2222 Volunteer Pkwy, Bristol, TN 37620.
