Eddie Lee Laster, age 72, of Bristol, Tenn. went to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, January 3, 2018 at the Wellmont Hospice House, after a long courageous battle with cancer.

Eddie was born March 7, 1945 in Bristol, where he grew up in the Southside community.  He was a lifelong resident of Bristol, where he’d worked at Raytheon and later became a longtime employee of Reynolds Metals and Ball Corporation, from which he retired.  Eddie was a longtime Christian and a member of Virginia Avenue Baptist Church.  He enjoyed spending quality time with his many friends and family members, including his Sunday night fellowship group at McDonald’s, and the Tuesday gatherings, at Tootie’s Restaurant.  He loved piddling with antique cars and was a proud member of the Southeast Deuce Club, loved taking trips to the beach, etc., but Eddie was, above all, a loving and devoted family man.  Eddie was preceded in death by his dear mother and step-father, Margaret and Ivan Wesner, and his sister, Connie Shipplett.

He adored and cherished his loving wife of 51 years, Connie Johnson Laster.  He was a devoted and loving father to his two daughters, Lori Walker and husband Bill, and Nikki Nash and husband Jason.  He was a loving grandfather to Lacy Walker and adored his great-grandchildren, Bella, Chevy and Zane Lee.  Eddie always cared deeply for his many beloved cousins.

The funeral service for Mr. Laster will be held 8 p.m. Friday, January 5, 2018 in the Weaver Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Mike Tyson officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 until 7:45 p.m. Friday, prior to the funeral service. The committal service and interment will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, in Glenwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Virginia Avenue Baptist Church, 1401 Virginia Ave, Bristol, TN 37620.
