Faye B. Tranum

Faye B. Tranum, age 93, of Bristol Tennessee fulfilled her journey on earth on January 8, 2018 and went to meet her Lord and Savior.

Faye was born in Castlewood, Virginia and spent her childhood in Damascus, Virginia.  Shortly after graduating from high school, she moved to Bristol where she worked for the telephone company.  Most recently, she was employed at East High School.

She was a long-time member of Tennessee Avenue Baptist Church where she was known as Miss Faye to her Awana classes and her three-year-olds classes.  Most recently she was a member of Bethany Fellowship Baptist Church.  Faye was a devoted wife, loving mother and outstanding Grandmother and Great-Grandmother. She was also a fierce prayer warrior. Her great attitude and perseverance through adversity will be sorely missed.

Her family was blessed by her presence and example.  She was preceded in death by her husband William S. “Bill” Tranum.  She is survived by her daughter, Judy Tranum; two sons, Mark Tranum (Vickie) and Mike Tranum (Alicia); four granddaughters Katie Tranum Priester (Joe), Amanda Tranum Scott (Taylor), Mollie Tranum Creel (Caleb) and Haley Tranum.  She is also survived by two great-grandsons, Ethan Priester and Landon Priester.

The family will receive friends on Friday, January 12, 2018, from 4pm to 6pm and a celebration of life service will immediately follow at Weaver Funeral Home with Rev. David Burton officiating.  There will be a graveside service at Glenwood Cemetery at 11:00am on Saturday, January 13, 2018.

Faye Tranum was beloved by all of our family. She was once our neighbor, and forever our friend. She was a very special friend, indeed to my son, Greg who went to be with Lord April 2015. Faye was like a second mother to him, and she nicknamed him chief when he was about 12 years old. She loved him as if he were her own. Faye's goodness, her love for others, and her faith in our Heavenly Father showed daily in her life. Please know, Judy, Mike and Mark how very sorry we are to hear of Faye's passing. But we will all see her again. I like to think of her and Greg in Heaven visiting like they did here on earth. God Bless each of you children.

Saddened to hear about Faye's passing. She was a true Christian lady and a great example. It was always a pleasure seeing her smiling face each Sunday when she sang in the choir at TABC, it was simply uplifting. At the same time I recall seeing her shed tears when her husband Bill would sing 'Up Calvary's Mountain' or 'More About Jesus'. I will always remember her love for children and teenagers. Faye will be missed but Heaven's Sounding Sweeter All The Time'.
