Linda Lewis Gurkweitz, age 70, received her angel wings on Monday, August 6, 2018 at her home with her family and loved ones by her side.
She was born January 2, 1948 in Bluff City, TN a daughter of Charles William Hicks and Geneva Nell Hicks.
Linda enjoyed sewing and making dolls. She was a registered nurse and ETSU graduate.
Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her brother, Tom Hicks and dear sister, Peggy Blevins. She is survived by her special companion E. Wilson Ball; favorite child and special dog, “Lucy”; son, David Lewis; daughter, Karen Hughes and husband Tommy; granddaughter, Olivia Hughes and husband Josh; two great grandsons, Hudson Hughes and Leland Hughes; sister, Becky Perry and husband Marvin; sister-in-law, Linda Hicks; special daughter, Stephanie Parks and husband Chris; special granddaughter, Samantha Plaster and husband Braydon; special great grandson, Bowen Plaster; several special nieces, nephews, and aunts.
A funeral service will be held 8:00 pm, Wednesday, August 8, 2018 in the Weaver Funeral Home Chapel with special friend, Randy Leonard officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:45 pm prior to the service. Pallbearers will be Neal Morris, Mark Brown, Gordie Hicks, Trent Blevins, Jacob Blevins, Tommy Wilcox, Howard Blevins, and Chris Parks. There will be a procession leaving the funeral home at 10:30 am Thursday going to Sunrise Cemetery for an 11:00 am burial.
