Clyde O. White, 85, son of the former Earl C. and Orpha Pope White, went home to be with the Lord peacefully at his home after a long illness on Saturday, June 9, 2018. He retired from Sears after 40 years of service. Before his stroke, he enjoyed going to church, bowling, fishing, traveling, yardwork, and helping people any way he could. In his own words, he was Christian by faith in Jesus Christ and a Fundamental Independent Baptist by conviction. He last attended Sinking Springs Baptist Church and continued to support it until God called him home. He left a note saying “Please don’t trust in the world’s goods, Trust God. My prayer is for all my children, grandchildren, and friends to meet me in Heaven. I love all of you.”
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Helen Snodgrass White, sister Norma Yokomizo, grandson Mark White, several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
Survivors are daughter, Connie Jackson (Sam); sons, Rickey White (Sharon), Terry White (Lisa) all of Bristol, TN, Steve White (Renae) of Sevierville, TN, Mark White (Carol) of Abingdon, VA; brother, Fred White of Morristown, TN, sisters, Arneda Rau, Seattle, WA, and Ramona Russell (Bill) of Morristown, TN; grandchildren, Nick Jackson, Chris White, Preston White, Tamara Jackson, Jeanette Buchheit (Al), Dakota White; several step-grandchildren; great grandchildren, Amber and Helen Pennington, Leyton and Miloh White, Sadie White, several step-great great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Many thanks to his loyal caregivers, Terry, Carolyn, Barbara, Tonya, Patty, Renae, Sharon, Kim, Mark, and others who did all they could to make him happy and comfortable. Also thanks to Tanya, Ben, Melissa and others at Smoky Mountain Health care for their tireless assistance with whatever was needed. Special thanks to special niece Missy Johnson who weekly called him, and sent cards, along with other family members that kept in touch.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Stroke, Heart, Dementia Associations, Good Help, Haven of Rest, Tri-State Children’s Home, Sinking Springs Baptist Church, or other children’s charities.
Visitation will be held 6:00 to 7:45 pm Tuesday, June 12, 2018 prior to the service at Weaver Funeral Home. The funeral service will be 8:00 Tuesday in the Weaver Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Terry Herman and Pastor David Presson officiating. The burial will be held 1:00 pm Wednesday in the Mountain View Cemetery. Honorary Pallbearers will be Chris White, Nick Jackson, Preston White, and Dakota White.
